The Value of
Event Furniture
The 6 Elements to Selecting the Right Rental
Furniture for Your Events
Traditionally, most marketers have looked at the furniture they rent
for their events, weddings, banquets, conferences and trade show exhibits
as a trivial detail—something you order from a catalog with little
thought. They couldn’t be more wrong.
Rental furniture is in many ways the backbone of an event—too important
to approach lightly. It keenly effects your visitors’ first impression
of your aesthetic and environment—and it’s a piece of your brand experience
that physically contacts your customers. “Furniture is a literal brand
touch. It represents your brand and physically touches your audience—so
your rental decision should not be taken lightly.”
In order to make the most of this opportunity, rental furniture for
a branded environment should never look rented. To ensure that your
rental furniture is as unique and dynamic as your brand, furniture
selection should start with an assessment of several suppliers and
their inventory. Six things to consider:
Design. How does the furniture look? Is the style
right? Ideally, the aesthetic should be a unique expression of your
brand, not a generic piece that could represent 100 other companies
equally well. Furniture has the potential to make great impact. Use
that to your advantage.
Comfort. If you think of your furniture as a tactile
expression of your brand, comfort becomes as important as aesthetic.
After all, you don’t want your guests to be uncomfortable or made
to feel awkward when they sit. Try the piece and ask yourself, does
the experience of sitting here support the overall experience and
message I’m trying to communicate?
Function. Even great looking furniture has to be
functional. If the furniture doesn’t accommodate your needs—i.e. the
right size groupings, facilitate conversation, accommodate plates
of food, quick move in and move out—you aren’t going to be happy with
it—and neither will the guests be at your corporate event, trade show,
exhibit, wedding or banquet.
Quality and Performance. Even though these are rental
pieces, they should never look used, because if they do, that’s a
reflection on your brand. The pieces must also be durable enough to
withstand the rigors of your event and still look great at the end
of the evening.
Service. Your rental supplier should have a knowledgeable
staff that understands what is involved in a corporate event—and is
able to handle the logistical details. It is imperative that they
have the necessary labor to get in and out of the event quickly. “You
want to work with someone who will make it easy for you.”
Another consideration is whether the trucking and labor costs are
included. Is the supplier a full-service company? You need to ask
what the price includes so you know that the numbers you are comparing
are apples to - apples.
Customization. If nothing quite fits, some companies
may be able to develop specialty pieces that meet your needs. “Some
of our clients have specific materials that are used in their products,
or particular shapes that represent their companies. When that is
the case, we create a specialty piece to accommodate their needs.”
These are just some of the reasons to choose Zeus Event & Tradeshow
